World Cup Saddleseat Equitation Team 2010

Presenting Emily Rice

Emily is 19 years old and is currently taking a sports psychology course as well as working full time. Emily lives in Newcastle, Ontario and has been coached by Leslie Hudson for the past 2 years. She started riding when she was twelve at a Morgan farm close to her home in Newcastle. It wasn’t long before she purchased her first horse, Tribute. She showed him in the Junior Exhibitor English Pleasure division.  This past February, Emily purchased her beautiful bay gelding VVM Mad About You  - Max - to further pursue her love of Saddle Seat.

Her enthusiasm towards the Saddle Seat discipline and her goal to join the Canadian World Cup Saddle Seat Team has taken Emily to many different stables in the US and Canada to work with many different coaches including Archie Hurst and Jo Cornell.

Highlights of 2009 include winning the AMHA Saddle Seat Medal Class in Horseheads NY as well as the Equine Canada Saddle Seat Equitation Medal Class, also as Reserve Provincial Champion Emily was able to participate in a Saddle Seat demonstration at the Royal Winter Fair.  Emily is very proud and excited to be a part of the 2010 Canadian Saddle Seat Team.
